Considering Homeschooling?

Welcome! We're glad you are here. Apparently you are considering homeschooling, which means you must have questions.

Homeschooling is a lifestyle, not just "public school" at home. Entering into the realm of formally teaching your children can be a daunting decision. And with all the information available on the internet, it can be overwhelming!

This post contains some helpful links to peruse:  from state and legal info to some helpful blogs with free resources, curriculum reviews and more. We are here to support you in whatever way we can, as you make your decision.

THESIS is a faith-based co-op, so our first recommendation is to PRAY! The Lord knows all, and He has great plans for you, your family, and the future of your children. There is no better source to turn to!

  • After praying, here is a list of good places to begin:

CHEWV (Christian Home Educators WV)
HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Assoc.)
Curriculum Reviews
More Curriculum Reviews
Some homeschool-themed blogs
How to Fail At Homeschooling (Not)
  • Some styles of homeschooling and tools used:

Classical Education
Charlotte Mason
Eclectic Homeschooling
Traditional Education
Thomas Jefferson Education
Unit Studies
Lapbooks
  • And some places to purchase homeschool supplies:

Rainbow Resource
Timberdoodle
Homeschool Supercenter
ebay (this is a great place to find used curriculum)

  • FREE online resources (planning, scheduling, subject ideas):

Donna Young (planners, scheduling tips, curriculum, etc)
The Pioneer Woman (list of many free online homeschool resources)
Money Saving Mom (another great list of free sites for homeschoolers)

And, feel free to contact one of the THESIS administrators to hear first hand how homeschooling has enriched their lives!
